Approach

My teaching approach is rooted in over 15 years of experience as a licensed massage therapist and trauma-informed yoga practitioner of the Akanda Shakti lineage.

My dance practice is informed by Datura Style and Dancecraft Style Fusion Bellydance. I am a Certified Datura Style Teacher and a Certified Hearts Level Dancecraft Dancer.

I weave together my structured training background with lifelong experience in intuitive movement (ballet, community theatre, play) to create a trauma-informed space that balances fun and challenge to explore our edges as humans and dancers.

In my classes, you can expect that I will guide you through grounding somatic practices, such as visualization, intention-setting, breath work and meditation, as well as Fusion Bellydance conditioning and choreography.

My intention is to approach our learning container with the awareness that humans learn in unique and different ways, such as experiential, visual, verbal and kinesthetic.

As a teacher, I am also devoted to being a lifelong student of dance, movement and teaching, itself. I welcome questions and I also will continue to question, remaining curious as I guide us through a holistic movement practice designed to support the longevity of the dancer’s body, mind and spirit.
